第2回:「大丈夫です」=本当に大丈夫?
日本語でよく使われる「大丈夫です」。
実は、この言葉もいろいろな意味があります。
「大丈夫です」の使い分け
① OK・問題ありません
「明日の面接は10時で大丈夫ですか?」
→「はい、大丈夫です。」
=「はい、問題ありません」
② いりません・必要ありません
「お水はいかがですか?」
→「大丈夫です。」
=「ありがとうございます。でも、いりません」
③ 心配しなくてもいい
「面接、緊張しています。」
→「大丈夫ですよ!」
=「心配しなくてもいいですよ」
留学生のみなさんへ
「大丈夫です」は、とても便利な言葉です。
でも、「OK」なのか「いらない」なのか、分かりにくいことがあります。
特に仕事や就職活動では、できるだけ具体的に伝えると安心です。
OKなら
「はい、問題ありません」
いらないなら
「ありがとうございます。必要ありません」
心配しなくていいなら
「大丈夫です。ありがとうございます」
「大丈夫です」だけに頼らず、場面に合わせて使い分けてみましょう!

Part 2: 「大丈夫です」=本当に大丈夫?
“Daijobu desu” = Is Everything Really Okay?
In Japanese, the same word can have different meanings depending on the situation.
Today’s expression is 「大丈夫です」(Daijobu desu).
「大丈夫です」can mean “Yes, that’s okay” or “No, thank you.”
How to use 「大丈夫です」
① OK / No problem
「明日の10時で大丈夫ですか?」
→「はい、大丈夫です。」
= “Yes, that’s fine.” / “Yes, no problem.”
② No, thank you / I don’t need it
「お水はいかがですか?」
→「大丈夫です。」
= “No, thank you. I don’t need any.”
③ Don’t worry / It’s okay
「明日の面接、緊張しています。」
→「大丈夫ですよ!」
= “Don’t worry. You’ll be fine!”
For International Students
「大丈夫です」is a very useful expression, but it can sometimes be confusing because it can mean both “yes” and “no.”
Especially in job interviews and the workplace, it is better to be more specific to avoid misunderstandings.
If you mean YES:
「はい、問題ありません。」
= “Yes, no problem.”
If you mean NO:
「ありがとうございます。必要ありません。」
= “Thank you, but I don’t need it.”
If you want to reassure someone:
「大丈夫です。ありがとうございます。」
= “It’s okay. Thank you.”

その代表が「結構です」です。
「結構です」は、OKの意味にも、NGの意味にもなります。
